After selecting the study programme that you wish to apply for and checking the relevant admission requirements on our website, you can submit your application, following the steps described below.

Step 1: Start your application in the DreamApply system of the selected scholarship scheme

There are three available scholarships offered by the Hungarian government: Stipendium Hungaricum, Scholarship for Christian Young People, and Diaspora Scholarship. Click here for more information about them.

If you wish to apply for one or more of our MSc programmes through a scholarship scheme, you must submit your application in the dedicated DreamApply system of the selected scholarship scheme:

Register for the relevant DreamApply platform, select the study programme(s) that you want to apply for and insert the required personal data.

Step 2: Contact your sending partner – only for Stipendium Hungaricum applicants

Applications must also be submitted to the responsible authority of your country (known as “sending partner”). Each sending partner has different deadlines and requirements for submitting the application. Therefore, you must contact your sending partner to inquire about their exact procedure.

Click here to find out who your sending partner is: Partners - Stipendium Hungaricum

Step 3: Upload the required application documents to DreamApply

You must upload all of the following application documents to the DreamApply platform in pdf format:

  • Bachelor’s degree

You must submit your bachelor’s degree both in its original language and its certified translation into English.

If you haven’t received your bachelor’s degree at the time of application but you will receive it before 1 August, you must upload a declaration stating that you will upload it as a missing document by 1 August. This is sufficient for submitting your application. When you receive your BSc degree, don’t forget to upload it to DreamApply.

  • Academic transcript

You must submit your academic transcript both in its original language and in English.

The transcript should include all your grades obtained during the 3 or 4 years of your bachelor’s studies, along with information about the grading scale.

  • Proof of English proficiency

You are required to submit a language exam certificate attesting to your level of English proficiency (at least CEFR B2). You can check out the acceptable language exams here.

If you haven’t received your language exam certificate at the time of application but you will receive it before 1 August, you must upload a declaration stating that you will upload it as a missing document by 1 August. This is sufficient for submitting your application. When you receive your exam certificate, don’t forget to upload it to DreamApply.

There are three cases in which you are not required to submit a language exam certificate (exemption):

    • if your mother tongue is English,
    • if you obtained your bachelor’s degree in a programme taught entirely in English (a certificate of the medium of instruction is required),
    • if you obtained your bachelor’s degree in a country where English is one of the official languages.

  • Motivation letter

Please submit a motivation letter describing the reasons behind your choice of study programme.

The document should not be longer than 1 page (format: Times New Roman, 12 pt).

  • Photo

You must submit a small, passport-size photo of yourself.

  • Copy of passport

You are required to submit a copy of your passport including the page(s) containing the following: passport number, photo, name, nationality, date of birth, date of issue, date of expiry and signature.

If you do not have a valid passport at the time of application or it will expire soon but you will receive a new passport before 1 August, you must upload a declaration stating that you will upload it as a missing document by 1 August. This is sufficient for submitting your application. When you receive your new passport, don’t forget to upload it to DreamApply.

  • Reference letter (recommended but not compulsory)

Your reference letter should be written by a university lecturer or some other professional who is familiar with your academic achievements.

It should be presented on an institutional headed paper and bear the referee’s signature and the stamp of the institution.

Please note that only complete applications can be accepted.

Step 4: Submit your application in DreamApply

Please make sure that all the required documents have been uploaded (in case of a missing degree/language exam certificate/passport, you must upload a declaration of missing document) and all the required fields have been filled in properly.

SH and SCYP scholarship applicants must also accept the Statement for application in the DreamApply system (it is not a separate document but a consent form that you must accept at the time of registration).

You must submit your application by the specified deadline.

Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship applicants must also submit their application to their sending partner.

Step 5: Wait for being nominated

After submitting your application, the competent entities (sending partners for SH, local church partners for SCYP and Hungarian diplomatic representations for Diaspora) will evaluate it and nominate the best applicants. The list of nominated applicants will be sent to the selected higher education institutions.

Nominated applicants must also upload a medical certificate of satisfactory health condition along with the required test results by the deadline determined in the call for applications of your chosen scholarship scheme (usually mid-April). You will receive a reminder about it.

Step 6: Your application will be evaluated by the Admissions Committee.

Successful applicants will be invited to take an entrance examination

We will inform you of the following steps in time.
